Before 2011, I had never used a primer under my foundation. I am also aware that my foundation application must have been somewhat hideous. I can't imagine not using the Cover FX Skin Prep Anti Aging Foundation Primer now. Not only does it moisturise my skin but it makes sure my foundation always glides on easily and evenly! My favourite foundation of all time (let alone the year) without a shadow of a doubt, has got to be the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. Unsurprisingly I haven't heard anyone say they don't like this. Yes, it is expensive but the way I see it, foundation is a necessity if you want flawless looking skin so it makes sense that you would splash some cash on a good one. It is beautifully buildable and therefore always provides the perfect amount of coverage. A light application has the effect of good tinted moisturiser, making it perfect for the summer months (it also contains SPF 15) or build it up to provide medium coverage that will still look really natural. It also smells phenomenal. Read my full love story here.
Another fabulous discovery over the past year has been Hello Flawless from Benefit. I was originally using another powder from Benefit called Get Even Concealer but Hello Flawless is leagues better! It's perfect for quickly setting your foundation or it can be worn on its own as a light coverage powder foundation (great for those days where you just be bothered). The compact comes with a sponge (ideal for concealing blemishes), mirror and a small brush which is perfect for touching up when you’re on the go. I keep this little dream on me at all times. Again, you can read my full review here.
Long gone are the days where I didn't concern myself with concealer (see exactly where I jinxed myself here) or at least if I did, I was easily pleased. My well behaved skin has recently decided to rebel and ruin most of my days. Things are settling down now, but I doubt I would have got through it without Collection 2000’s Lasting Perfection Concealer. This little guy really does the trick. It stays on all day without fail and doesn't dry out your blemishes. Most would say it's probably a bit too heavy for under the eyes but I've used it a few times (very sparingly) when I was running low on Touche Eclat and it seems to work a charm.
My next Best Products of 2011 Award goes to Max Factors False Lash Effect mascara. It's almost a substitute for false lashes. One coat will define your lashes & a few more will take you to a bold evening look that will emphasise your eyes. However I do want to try Benefit's They're Real mascara as I know lots of people have been raving about that recently.
A love affair which half of the
embarked on in early 2011 was that with Urban Decay's Naked Palette. Those bad boys were like gold dust but I was lucky enough to have a dreamboat of a flatmate who managed to grab us each one when strolling the streets of UK Brighton one fateful day! It has every colour I could possibly need on a day to day basis, my only request would be for more matte shades.
, we often need a little help with the bronzed look and I'm no exception. It's been my favourite bronzer for years, Benefit's Hoola. A medium matte brown shade that is really wearable and perfect for contouring. Other bronzers I've tried are either too dark for all year round or the shimmer makes them less suited to day time looks. England
Last but not least and one of my favourite finds of 2011 was the Cargo Blu_Ray Blush/Highlighter in Peach. It looks gorgeous all year round and is a nice change from all the pinky rose shades out there.
Looking forward to seeing what beauty products 2012 is going to throw at me!
