So my mild obsession with nail polish was confirmed the other day after popping into Boots and leaving with 6 bottles of the stuff...! Last summer (2010) Max Factor released their biggest range yet entitled Max Factor Colour Effects Collection. It's a bright & colourful 38 piece collection consisting of eye shadow, lip gloss & nail polish.
I've previously tried a couple of the lip glosses and they're fine, wearable, not too sticky but nothing to write home about. However this week I discovered the mini nail polish collection of the range & fell a little bit in love with the colours. There are 12 shades, so I left the store with half the collection which means I can give a pretty good overview!
The colours are great, literally love all of them especially the deep maroon shade (above - far right). The closest i'll ever get to Boom, the amazing limited edition similar Mac shade...! The coral shade doesnt come out quite as it appears in the bottle, slightly more orange but looks great with a tan. The middle shade is an iridescent light pearly pink colour, with gold glitter reflects - subtle & original.
The above 3 are all super glittery with the copper shade (above - far left) being fairly similar to Molten Copper by Accessorize. The gun metal colour is a nice change from plain black or silver & the gold is another personal favourite. All are fairly chip resistant with great staying power which is always a bonus!
The downsides? They're expensive considering the size - £3.99 a bottle. However, they are on 3 for 2 at participating Boots stores across the UK at the moment. The polish is pretty thin so you'll need a couple of coats for good even coverage & the brush is annoyingly small but that aside, they're worth a buy just because, well, the colours which speak for themselves!
Avaliable online & in store from Boots for £3.99 (currently 3 for 2 on all Max Factor products).
